Head-to-Head is the most straightforward way to bet on a tennis match. It involves placing a bet on the player you believe will win the match. Since there are no ties in tennis, there are only two possible outcomes, and each player will have their own money line odds. It's a simple and clear-cut way to punt on tennis, making it a popular choice among tennis enthusiasts and bettors. If you avoid the top-seeded players early in the tournament, there are very good odds, especially if you have done your homework.
Set Handicap Betting
Tennis Set Handicap betting is a wager on whether a player will win or cover the spread on the sets.
In most tennis matches, played over 3 sets, the set spread betting lines will be set at +/- 1.5 sets. For the favourite to cover, they must win 2-0, while the underdog must win at least 1 set. In men's Grand Slam tournaments, played over 5 sets, set betting spread lines can be either +/- 1.5 sets or +/- 2.5 sets. In the latter case, the favourite must win 3-0 to cover the spread, or the underdog must win at least 1 set.
As there can be a significant difference in skill levels between players, betting on the spreads offers a way to back a strong favourite at favourable odds or support an underdog that might not win but could keep the match closer than expected.
Game Handicap Betting
Game Handicap betting is similar to Set Betting, but instead of focusing on sets, it focusses on the number of games each player will win throughout the entire match. The game spread denotes the total games won by each player, making it another way to bet strategically on tennis matches. It is a great way to get more favourable odds on a favourite or back an underdog that may lose but put up a fight.
Aces Over/Under
An exciting player prop that you can ride all match is how many aces a player will make. This way it does not matter if your player wins or loses they just have to go OVER or UNDER the total given by the bookmaker.
Total Breaks Of Serve
In the Total Breaks of Serve market you will be given an OVER UNDER for the match. If you have a punt on the match it will be the total number of breaks by both players combined that will determine if the OVER or UNDER pays out. Alternatively, you can bet on each individual player.
Tennis Multi Bets
With 675 matches played at Grand Slam tennis tournaments like Wimbledon you can understand why multi betting has become a trend when having a punt on the tennis, especially in the early stages of the tournaments.
