What is a Same Game Multi Bet
Same Game Multis are offered by a number of betting sites
A Same Game Multi (SGM) allows you to place a single bet using a combination of legs within the same specific match in particular sports, such as NRL, AFL, EPL, NFL, NBA, NHL and many more.

How are Same Game Multi odds calculated?

A Same Game Multi is calculated on the correlation between each leg and its probability in relation to the other legs in the bet. Confusing right?

Let’s say that you are backing;

  • Line- Penrith Panthers -13.5  @ 1.90
  • Penrith Team Total- Over 25.5 points @ 1.85
  • Melbourne Team Total - Under 11.5 points @ 2.05

SGM odds = 3.54

Because all of the 3 legs positively affect the other, the SGM algorithm will produce lower odds than if you had a leg that goes against the majority of your choices.

Let’s have a look at this example; by changing the Penrith Team Total to UNDER 25.5 the SGM odds increase significantly, as taking the UNDER team total will have a negative effect on the other legs, therefore the probability of all three legs winning is much lower.

  • Line- Penrith Panthers -13.5  @ 1.90
  • Penrith Team Total- UNDER 25.5 points @ 1.85
  • Melbourne Team Total - Under 11.5 points @ 2.05
SGM odds = 7.93

How to place a Same Game Multi Bet

Same Game Multis are placed in different ways depending on your preferred bookie and betting website. Without complicating things, there are two general ways that SGM are placed

Same Game Multi Bet Builder:

Bookmakers like Bet 365, GetSetBet and TopSport have created tabs within each game that list the markets that can be included in a Same Game Multi. You then simply follow the steps below to place your SGM bet.

  1. Find the game that you would like to place a SGM bet on.
  2. Look for the tab that indicates the SGM or ‘Bet Builder’ markets.
  3. Make your selections and add the legs you wish to combine by clicking on the odds indicated
  4. Go to the bet slip and add the amount you wish to lay next to the precalculated SGM odds.
  5. Once you have laid the stake click on the Place Bet button and confirm your selections.
  6. Sit on the edge of your seat and cheer your bets on!

Same Game Multi Tab:

The other alternative is that bookmakers like Unibet and Neds allow you to find the markets in the standard game betting page, then they provide a section of the betting slip that will put together a SGM from your selections. This way you can bet on your legs individually and also bet on them in a SGM at the same time.

  1. Simply go into the game you wish to place a SGM on and make your selections as usual.
  2. Once you have added all of the legs you wish to bet on, go to the bet slip.
  3. Here you may find a tab that says ‘Same Game Multi’ or ‘Combination’, alternatively you may need to scroll to the bottom of the bet slip where it will give you Same Game Multi odds for the legs that can be included.
  4. Place the stake you wish to bet and click the Place Bet button.
  5. Enjoy the match and follow your legs.
