AFL Round 21 Tips 2026: Best Bets for Every Game

Round 21 opens with a huge Thursday night clash between Collingwood and Geelong, with both sides pushing to strengthen their position heading into the finals.

Fremantle host the Western Bulldogs in another important matchup, while St Kilda get the chance to test Sydney at Marvel Stadium and Carlton face an in-form Brisbane side on Saturday night.

Here are the best bets for every game in AFL Round 21.

Collingwood vs Geelong

Best Bet: Collingwood Head-to-Head
Collingwood produced one of their best performances of the season when they knocked off Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval, and the Magpies are building serious momentum at the right time.

Geelong were also impressive against Melbourne and are always difficult to dismiss, but Collingwood’s pressure and ability to force turnovers should give them the edge in a close game at the MCG.

Fremantle vs Western Bulldogs

Best Bet: Western Bulldogs +31.5
Fremantle continue to set the standard and made light work of West Coast in the Western Derby, but this is a much tougher opponent.

The Bulldogs have been inconsistent against the top sides, although they still have enough midfield quality and scoring power to remain competitive. Fremantle should win, but the +31.5 line gives the Dogs enough room to stay inside the number.

St Kilda vs Sydney

Best Bet: Sydney 1-39 Winning Margin
Sydney responded strongly against GWS last week and should have too much class for St Kilda, but this may be closer than the ladder suggests.

The Saints are generally much tougher at Marvel Stadium and have shown they can drag strong opponents into tight contests. Sydney should find a way to win without completely putting St Kilda away.

Hawthorn vs North Melbourne

Best Bet: Hawthorn -35.5
Hawthorn returned to their best with a dominant performance against Essendon and now face a North Melbourne side whose form has dipped.

The Kangaroos should be more competitive than they have been in some recent meetings, but Hawthorn’s speed, forward efficiency and ability to score from turnover should produce another comfortable victory in Tasmania.

Port Adelaide vs GWS Giants

Best Bet: GWS Giants Head-to-Head
Neither side has been especially reliable, but GWS look the better option despite their disappointing loss to Sydney.

Port Adelaide are missing important midfield quality and have struggled to consistently turn competitive performances into victories. The Giants have shown enough against strong opposition to be trusted in a close contest.

Carlton vs Brisbane Lions

Best Bet: Brisbane Lions 1-39 Winning Margin
Carlton continue to fight for a place in the top 10 and should make this a competitive game at Marvel Stadium.

Brisbane’s form has improved significantly heading towards the finals, and the Lions look to have more quality across the ground. Carlton should keep the margin respectable, but Brisbane are tipped to win without completely blowing the Blues away.

Richmond vs West Coast Eagles

Best Bet: West Coast Eagles -1.5
Richmond have been difficult to trust over the past few weeks, with their ball movement and overall effort dropping away badly.

West Coast were comfortably beaten by Fremantle, but their broader form has shown more improvement than Richmond’s. The Eagles have a genuine opportunity to score a rare away win and should be backed to cover the small line.

Gold Coast Suns vs Melbourne Demons

Best Bet: Melbourne Demons -4.5
Melbourne were beaten by Geelong last week but still produced enough good football to suggest they can respond on the road.

Gold Coast’s season has fallen apart, with the Suns struggling to generate any momentum during a long losing run. Melbourne have the stronger midfield and more reliable defensive structure, making the short line appealing.

Essendon vs Adelaide Crows

Best Bet: Adelaide Crows -45.5
Adelaide were disappointing against Collingwood, but this is an ideal opportunity to bounce back and build some percentage.

Essendon have shown occasional signs of improvement, although they remain vulnerable against the competition’s better teams. Adelaide should dominate field position and create enough scoring chances to cover a big line at Marvel Stadium.

AFL Round 21 Best Bets Summary

  • Collingwood vs Geelong — Collingwood Head-to-Head
  • Fremantle vs Western Bulldogs — Western Bulldogs +31.5
  • St Kilda vs Sydney — Sydney 1-39
  • Hawthorn vs North Melbourne — Hawthorn -35.5
  • Port Adelaide vs GWS — GWS Head-to-Head
  • Carlton vs Brisbane — Brisbane 1-39
  • Richmond vs West Coast — West Coast -1.5
  • Gold Coast vs Melbourne — Melbourne -4.5
  • Essendon vs Adelaide — Adelaide -45.5

The strongest Round 21 plays are Hawthorn against North Melbourne, Adelaide to bounce back against Essendon and Melbourne to cover the short line against Gold Coast. Collingwood also appeal at the underdog price in what should be one of the closest games of the round.
