AFL Round 12 Tips 2026: Best Bets for Every Game
Round 12 might be shortened by the bye rounds, but there are still plenty of strong betting angles across the board.
The standout matchup is clearly Brisbane vs Fremantle at the Gabba, while Bulldogs vs Collingwood shapes as one of the most important games of the season so far. The workbook also throws up value on a couple of underdogs and some strong line plays.
Here are the best bets for every AFL Round 12 game.
St Kilda Saints vs Hawthorn Hawks
Best Bet: Hawthorn Hawks -8.5
St Kilda were competitive for long periods against Fremantle last week before fading late, while Hawthorn managed to steady themselves with a solid win over Adelaide. The Hawks still look dangerous from turnover and should have enough class to control this game at Marvel, even if the Saints keep things tight early.
Carlton Blues vs Geelong Cats
Best Bet: Geelong Cats -20.5
Carlton are clearly improving and have started playing a much more balanced brand of footy over the last few weeks, but this is a big step up in class. Geelong are one of the form sides of the competition right now and looked outstanding again against Sydney. The Cats should eventually wear the Blues down.
Sydney Swans vs Richmond Tigers
Best Bet: Sydney Swans -41.5
Richmond deserve credit for staying competitive despite the injury issues, but this feels like a difficult matchup for them. Sydney were far from disgraced against Geelong and still look capable of piling on huge scores against lower-ranked sides. The Swans should take control as the game wears on.
Brisbane Lions vs Fremantle Dockers
Best Bet: Fremantle Dockers +6.5
This is comfortably the hardest game of the round to line up. Brisbane at the Gabba is always dangerous, especially coming off a couple of disappointing performances, but Fremantle simply look like the better team right now. Even if the Dockers do not win, getting a small start still feels like the safer betting angle.
Western Bulldogs vs Collingwood Magpies
Best Bet: Western Bulldogs Head-to-Head
The Bulldogs finally showed some life again against Melbourne and now get another huge opportunity at Marvel Stadium. Collingwood were pushed much harder than expected by West Coast and now have injury concerns around key players. If the Dogs bring the same energy they had last week, they can win this outright.
West Coast Eagles vs Essendon Bombers
Best Bet: West Coast Eagles Head-to-Head
This is probably the hardest game of the round to trust, but West Coast have quietly looked much more competitive over the last few weeks. Essendon, meanwhile, are coming off another poor performance and now head into this game with plenty of noise surrounding the club. The Eagles at home look the better play.
Melbourne Demons vs GWS Giants
Best Bet: Melbourne Demons -11.5
Melbourne were not at their best against the Bulldogs, but they still look far more reliable than GWS overall. The Giants remain one of the hardest teams in the competition to read, capable of looking brilliant one week and completely falling apart the next. Melbourne should have enough stability to get the job done.
